Jessica Hische Interview

CLICK HERE FOR THE JESSICA HISCHE INTERVIEW

As a design student I struggled, and I always wanted to be better at design. At times, it felt like I was at a plateau, and it took everything I had (including nights of no sleep) in order to barely climb over the hump. In order to deal with this, I would find sources of inspiration to drive my passion for design. One of my main sources was watching the ever popular Jessica Hische, who is a very young, very successful, letterer/ designer/ Illustrator. Her style is very approachable, friendly, and smart.

One of my co-workers just recently shared this interview with me, and I found it to be very interesting. Hische is extremely down to earth, and reminds me a lot of who I was before I found design school. It is a great dialogue, and humbles the pedestal we try to climb in order to be great designers. Anyone can be great, it is just a matter of following your own dreams. I've always thought that passion drives process. If a designer, whether they be a student or a professional, finds passion in a certain area of design they should pursue it.

I have also slowly, but surely come to the realization that design is extremely flexible. It can mold and shape to the structure of your life however you want it too. Whether you work in the city at a large design firm, or if you prefer to freelance, or if you prefer to create random projects that end up getting extremely popular (daily drop cap). Design has many different avenues, and we are the one's who get to choose the route.
